The much more agreeable Marco Polo

the girl kept pointing at the old woman behind them in the line at the atm.  her mother kept shushing her. when it was her mother’s turn at the cash machine, she said out loud “she looks like maleficent.”  i took out my phone and tried to text somebody.

is it really true though that character with names that are hard to pronounce, say maleficent, are generally perceived to be more diabolical than those with monickers easier to say and remember?

is this just now?  or how about say in the time of the great mongol war lord kubilai khan?  when some three grungy white men named niccolo, maffeo and marco polo were presented to him, when did the great khan decide, ah, it is this marco guy i will listen to?
